The Declaration is intended as a statement of intent from Third Sector organisations to tackle the issue of climate change by taking action in our organisations and in our communities. |
We believe that climate change will disproportionately affect the disadvantaged, poor and excluded and that the Third Sector has a central role in working with communities and government to promote sustainable development that delivers both environmental and social justice.

Please join us by committing your organisation to face this challenge by:
Recognising the need for urgent action at all levels to combat climate change
Adopting public plans to reduce carbon emissions
Enabling members, service users and clients to meet this challenge and reduce their own carbon emissions
Supporting national legal targets for green house gas emissions
Working in partnership with government and others to reach or exceed these targets
Working together as a sector to inspire and encourage action on this issue
The declaration was launched by David and Ed Miliband on 18 June 2007 and is fully supported by the current Secretary of State for the Environment, Hillary Benn. See their statement of support.
